FALL DANCE Schedule 2019

Starting from September 2nd to November 24th

MONDAY

Creative Dance (Ages 3-5)

9:00AM-9:45AM        

In creative dance we encourage dancers to express their own way of moving while teaching them to experiment and play with basic movement elements such as speed, weight, flow, shape, and level.

Fairy Tale Ballet (Ages 3-5)

10:00AM-10:45AM

Our Fairy Tale Ballet class uses genuine classical ballet stories like “La Sylphide” and “The Nutcracker” to introduce your child to classical ballet culture and technique.

Musical Theatre Dance (All Ages)

7:00PM-9:00PM

In our all ages musical theatre class students will learn group dances to their favorite Disney songs and at least one dance to a musical classic.

TUESDAY

Hip-Hop (Ages 6-9)

4:00PM-5:00PM      

Popular hip hop moves, old and new will be explored in this Hip Hop class for kids who love the beat.

Modern Dance & Choreography (Ages 9-12)

5:00PM-6:00PM

Students will learn and practice basic modern dance steps and technique while experimenting with group and individual dance-making in a supported environment.

WEDNESDAY

Creative Dance (Ages 3-5)

In creative dance we encourage dancers to express their own way of moving while teaching them to experiment and play with basic movement elements such as speed, weight, flow, shape, and level.

Pre Ballet (Ages 3-5)

10:00am-10:45am

This class will teach your child ballet arm and leg positions as well as basic ballet movements, through games, storytelling and classical music.

Thursday

Modern Dance (Ages 18+)

7:00PM-8:00PM

Born of a combination of dance genres and a rebellion against classical ballet technique, modern dance will teach you to move the way you’ve never thought to before. From the flexed feet of Martha Graham Technique and the falling and rising stylings of Doris Humphrey, to the use of flowing scarves in the vein of the legendary Loie Fuller.

Choreography (Ages 18+)

8:00PM-9:00PM

The focus of this class is on instructing students in the art of MAKING DANCES. Students will learn complex modern dance choreography and methods while learning to create and explore their own movement style. We recommend taking
this class alongside our Modern Dance class. LIMITED SPACES!

FRIDAY

Mini Modern Dance (Ages 3-5)

9:00AM-9:0045AM

Students will learn basic fundamental modern dance movements, experimenting and exploring contract and release techniques, pointed and flexed feet, and expressing emotion through the body. Scarves will be used.

Text and Movement (Ages 16+)

6:00PM-7:00PM

Students will explore the connection between words and movement expression by using written and spoken word to enhance, change the meaning of, or explain dance choreography.

Street Jazz (Ages 13-17)

7:00PM-8:00PM
This class combines popular street dance movements, Jazz, and several styles of Hip Hop in a unique style of dance!

Jazz/Hip Hop Mix (Ages 13-17)

8:00PM-9:00PM

Students will learn movements and technique from both dance styles. The class will culminate in the learning of one fully choreographed dance of each style.

SATURDAY

Creative Dance (Ages 6-9)

In creative dance we encourage dancers to express their own way of moving while teaching them to experiment and play with basic movement elements such as speed, weight, flow, shape, and level. We will also enjoy the use of instruments and props while learning basic movement vocabulary such as skip, jump, hop, gallop, and slide! Students will also have the chance to create dance sequences of their own, working in groups with their peers to use their creative dance skills!

Ballet/Jazz Mix (Ages 6-9)

11:30AM-12:30PM

Our Ballet and Jazz Dance Mix classes mix the best of the two genres to give your child a taste of these two fabulous styles of movement. The class will culminate in the learning of one fully choreographed dance of each style.

Ballet/Jazz Mix (Ages 9-12)

12:30PM-1:30PM

Our Ballet and Jazz Dance Mix classes mix the best of the two genres to give your child a taste of these two fabulous styles of movement. The class will culminate in the learning of one fully choreographed dance of each style.

Experimental Dance Forms

6:00PM-7:00PM
In this class we will explore the various ways in which what is acceptable as dance art has changed throughout time. Students will study and experiment with spoken word, autobiographical dance, and gaga technique.

SUNDAY

Parent and Me Pre-Ballet (Age 2-4)

9:00-9:45AM

Learn basic ballet movements, socialize your toddler with others their age, and dance with your littlest one! In this class you will help you child to follow along with the lesson and explore in a safe environment supported by you – their parent.

Mini Musical Theatre (Ages 3-5)

10:00AM-10:45AM

Children will learn to dance expressively in this adorable dance class that will teach your children to dance with flair and dramatics!

Ribbon Dance (Ages 3-5)

11:00AM-11:45AM

Students will learn basic ribbon dancing techniques. In class there will be lots of playing, dancing, and twirling ending in one ribbon dance performance.

Adult Creative Dance (Ages 30+)

2:00PM-3:00PM

In our creative dance class for adults we will explore elements of movement such as speed, flow, weight, timing, and more while solving and creating movement problems and scenarios.
